Today was Gabriel's 4th birthday! We got him his first bike... he was very excited.

A test shot while working on getting all my lighting happy... came out pretty well (except for the off-the-cuff composition).
The camp/train ride place next to the state park is called "Big Trees". Marketing by understatement, for once. This is a big tree.

Gabriel had a good birthday and he's very excited about his guitar.
I bought 14 balloons (a dozen latex + 2 mylar) at a party supply place in Scotts Valley on my way home from the office (how weird!). Unfortunately, I didn't plan terribly well and the question of how to get the balloons into the Mustang only came up after the purchase. So I had a pretty interesting drive home. Most of what limited visibility there is in a Mustang was either purple, or yellow, or red, or blue, or anything but clear. There were only a couple pedestrian fatalities.
Gabriel is three today. We'll have as much of a party as we can have by ourselves. :) He'll get his guitar today and then tomorrow we're gonna go to the Monterey Bay Aquarium for the first time together. No doubt pictures will be forthcoming!
Gabriel will be 3 on the 18th. It's very sad to be so far from all his friends, sigh. BUT... yesterday we got him his birthday present... a "real" guitar. It's a 3/4 scale Squier acoustic. MUCH nicer than his cheap Ukulele (sp?). He'll just have to take care of it, but he's pretty good with the Uke... it's just a piece of junk so it has fallen apart (and this is the second one!)
So we haven't actually given it to him and he doesn't know about it, so we're constantly spelling everything. In telling family about it, the conversation went something like: We "made an exchange for" a "G-U-I-T-A-R" and because it's sorta "B-I-G" on the "B-O-Y" we also "got a device to attach it to him". In addition, the "G-U-I-T-A-R" is very "auditorially pleasing". It got pretty silly.
