Here comes a rant. I'm sick and tired of being unable to find latte art in Houston! As far as I can tell, we have zero top-quality coffee houses. Latte art isn't the goal, necessarily, but it's a good sign. I visited three coffee houses yesterday... one because it's local and I like it, one because I heard they did latte art, and a new place right by my house.
None of the three make latte art, though the local place I like (Coffee Groundz) is working on learning, and they're great people and very honest. The place I heard about that supposedly makes latte art, Little Italy Coffee Bar, didn't. Not only did they not, but the latte was mediocre at best. At least Coffee Groundz can make a decent cappuccino, given the right barista. The third place, right by my house (Java Dave's), is using a superauto they don't know how to operate, and the cappuccino was terrible. I would hesitate to call the "coffee" in it espresso at all.
My next stop will be Agora, which I hear good things about, though latte art isn't among them. Come on Houston, we need some real coffee 'round here. If anyone knows of anyplace making latte art, please leave me a comment.
